A LLANBERIS man appears in a wartime blockbuster that is wowing moviegoers around the world.
Dylan Jones, 35, was a stunt rider and team co-ordinator on Steven Spielberg’s epic War Horse.
“Filming was hard work for the horses and the stunt team, but it was a lovely experience,” he said.
War Horse examines the bond between lead character Albert Narracott (Jeremy Irvine) and a horse named Joey - from childhood through to their military adventures in France.
Dylan spent seven weeks working on scenes involving a British cavalry charge on location at the Duke of Wellington’s estate near Basingtoke, and Boreham Wood in Surrey.
There was no time to be starstruck for the horsemaster, who has already worked on all four series of BBC drama Merlin.
“I concentrate so hard on what I do that I don’t have time to think ‘this is nice’,” he said.
He also supplied 15 horses for the shoot, through his company Dolbardarn Film Horses, which his father Aneuryn set up in the 1970s.
After training as an actor, Dylan studied for six years with the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and worked on Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe.
Dylan revealed his most memorable stunt involved riding through a wall of fire for Dragon Crusaders.
“It’s easy enough, but there’’s always a risk involved with going through a wall of fire stretching three miles into the air.
“You’ve got to ride through really fast so there’s no injury to yourself or the horse,” he said.
