20 jobs to go at Anglesey wholesaler

AN Anglesey wholesaler has been forced to cut 20 jobs after disappointing recent sales.

Webbs, of Menai Bridge, has announced that at least 20 island-based jobs will be cut but have not yet specified the final figure.

The cutbacks are understood to have been prompted by a recent decline in the retail market.

Company Director Mike Webb said:"We will not know exactly how many people will be affected for some time, we are just at the early stages of this."

The company was established in 1928 and specialises in the sale of toys and books to retailers.

The company has a workforce of more than 160 employees, the majority of which are based on Anglesey.
