A POST-mortem examination is expected to be carried out today on a young man who died suddenly.

Jamie Ellis, 18, from Sandycroft, died over the weekend and dozens of devastated friends and family members have paid tribute to the former St David’s High School, Saltney, pupil, who was affectionately known as Jay.

St David’s High School headteacher Tony Davidson said Jay would be remembered as a popular student.

He said: “It is terribly sad news. It was with great sadness that we heard this news as it came to light over the weekend.

“He remained close to a number of our current students and we are providing them with support at this time.

“We would like to extend our condolences to his friends and his loved ones.”
Friends and family have joined a Facebook group set up in his memory.

Jade Egan wrote: “Love and miss you so much, you’ll always be with me in my heart. Never forget how much you mean to me. Sleep tight Jay.”

Carly Cameron Wainwright wrote: “Really can’t believe you’ve gone Jay. You’re going to be missed by so many people. Rest in peace, never ever be forgotten.”

Jamie’s aunt, Charlette Egan, wrote: “We all love and miss you so much.
“You will always remain in my heart forever and ever.

“Make sure you are watching over your family and friends Jay, you were the best nephew ever. Heaven needed an angel and they took you.”

Sandycroft councillor David Wisinger added: “My sympathies are with his friends and family.

“It is a very sad time of year for this to happen. He was only 18 so it is very tragic.”
Saltney councillor Klaus Armstrong-Braun, a governor at St David’s High School, said his thoughts were with Jay’s family.

He said: “I am very shocked and it is a loss to his family and the community.
“I am thinking of his friends and relatives at this time. I hope they take comfort in their memories of him.”

John Gittins, acting coroner for North East Wales, said Jamie’s death had been reported to the coroner’s office.

Further details about how he died have not yet been released.
