A COMMUNITY has been left shocked after a man was stabbed in a block of flats.

Police yesterday morning arrested a 49-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident at Bolingbroke Heights, Flint, which led to a 62-year-old man being rushed to hospital.

He was yesterday described as being in a stable condition by police.

The incident has stunned members of the Flint community, who have conveyed their shock at a stabbing occurring in a building which is occupied by a number of elderly residents.

Don Doran, chairman of Bolingbroke and Richard Heights Residents Association, said he had been informed the incident occurred on the 13th floor of the premises.

He said: “A resident of the floor below has said she heard a lot of noise such as screaming coming from above.

“There is a great sense of shock about what has happened. We have not had something like this happening here before.”

It has not been confirmed if the injured man was a resident of the property.
Flint Coleshill councillor Alex Aldridge said he was shocked to hear of the incident taking place.

He said: “I have got to be mortified and horrified to hear of these things.

“It really has come as a shock. You do not expect this to happen in Bolingbroke Heights.”

The flats, which are located yards from Richard Heights and a short distance from Flint town centre, are managed by Flintshire Council and have been advertised as accepting residents aged 60 and over.

Staff at the neighbouring Flint Sports and Social Club said customers had reported hearing sirens sounding during the night following the incident.

A female resident of a neighbouring property, who did not wish to be named, said:
“It is a shock to hear what has happened, I have not known this to be the case there before.

“I hope the person who has been injured fully recovers.”

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “A 49-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in Flint in the early hours of Sunday, January 8.

“Police were called to Bolingbroke Heights in Flint at 1.21am where a 62-year-old man had been stabbed.

“The man was taken to hospital and is now said to be in a stable condition.”
