RESCUERS rushed to the aid of a sheep that was stranded for nearly a week in a flooded quarry near Caernarfon.

RSPCA inspector Andy Broadbent that the animal was stuck on a ledge for around five days after dogs chased it into the disused Dorothea quarry in Talysarn, which is 300ft deep in places.

“Rescuing stranded animals is an important part of our work, but this incident also highlights the need for dog owners to ensure that their animals are kept on a lead when there are sheep nearby,” he said.
