Powys Council HQ evacuated after suspect package found

POLICE are investigating after a suspicious package was reported at Powys County Council’s offices in Llandrindod Wells cuaisng an evacuation.

Police received the call at 11.25am this morning.

The decision to evacuate the building as a precaution was taken a short while later.

"The package is now in the process of being recovered safely and inquiries will soon get underway to determine where this package came from, who sent it and why," said Chief Inspector Robyn Mason.

"No-one sustained any injuries as a result of this incident. And we are now working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible."
