HAWK jets at RAF Valley have been grounded following the death of a Red Arrows pilot who died in Lincolnshire.
Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham, 35, was killed when he was ejected from his Hawk T1 aircraft while it was on the ground at RAF Scampton on Tuesday.
Following the tragedy Ministry of Defence (MoD) officials confirmed that other jets fitted with the same ejector seats would be grounded, including the Hawk T1’s used at RAF Valley to train pilots.
The MoD said: “All non-essential RAF flying on aircraft fitted with a similar ejector seat to the Hawk T1 has been temporarily suspended.”
The move was described as a precautionary measure pending further investigations.
