Woman dies after slipping into river near Beddgelert

THE body of a woman in her 60's has been recovered from a river near Beddgelert.

North Wales Police received a report that a woman had slipped into the river at Pont Aberglaslyn, near Beddgelert, at 11.23am today.

Inspector Gareth Evans said: “Police, Fire and Rescue, ambulance and mountain rescue services were called to the scene and an extensive search of the area, involving the police helicopter and helimed, was carried out.

"At around 12 noon the body of a woman in her 60’s was discovered downstream and later recovered from the water.

"The woman was pronounced dead at the scene."

Police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.
