TWO MEN have been charged with murder after the death of a man in Meliden.
Police have issued renewed appeals after Gary Bland, 41 and James Siree 21, both of Rhyl, appeared in Prestatyn Magistrates Court on Monday morning charged with the murder of Gabor Sarkozi, 38.
Mr Sarkozi, a Hungarian national who worked as a delivery man for the Happy Garden takeaway, was attacked on October 18.
He was found with serious injuries in Ffordd Talagoch at around 10.45pm and taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he later died.
Detective Chief Inspector Iestyn Davies said: “The response from the public has been extremely encouraging to date. Mr Sarkozi's death shocked the local community who have assisted us greatly in the progress of the enquiry.
“I do believe that there are further witnesses who have yet to come forward who could provide important evidence in this case. I would appeal again for the driver of a light coloured mini one or cooper type car with a black roof and possibly a convertible to come forward. We know that this vehicle travelled through Meliden village between 10:45 and 10.50 pm and that the occupants would have witnessed the attack.”
Mr Davies said he believed Mr Sarkozi was attacked at two separate places on the night in question, and the other location was on Ffordd Talargoch near the entrance of Dyserth Hall Mews, three quarters of a mile from where he was found.
He said: “I would therefore appeal to anyone that was walking or cycling along this road between 9:30pm and midnight to come forward as they may have important information.”
Cllr Gerry Frobisher of the Meliden Ward, said his heart went out to the family of Mr Sarkozi, who was well known in the village.
He said: “On behalf of our community of Meliden, I would like to convey our sympathies and condolences to the family of the deceased back in Hungary, and his partner and young children.
“I would also like to assure the community that public safety is ensured. There is a heavy police presence in the village, and they are carrying out house to house enquiries and searching the scene.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact North Wales Police on 101.
