A MAN who brandished a knife in his ex-partner’s home has been jailed for two months.
Gavin Lee Jones, of Deva Way, Wrexham, was given the jail term by Wrexham magistrates after admitting charges of assault, criminal damage and threatening to damage or destroy property.
Jones, 22, has also been given a restraining order for 12 months, banning him from going within 100 metres of Barter Court, Wrexham, or having any contact with Natalie Ann Elms.
His prison sentence will run concurrently with another sentence he is currently serving for a separate offence.
Matthew Ellis, prosecuting, said Jones and Miss Elms had been in a relationship for about four-and-a-half years before Jones ended it earlier this year.
Early on July 15, he visited her home on Barter Court. Mr Ellis said Miss Elms suspected he had taken “substances”.
She requested he left the property as she was going to work but Jones told her he would not go as he believed there was another man in the property, which Miss Elms said was not the case.
Mr Ellis said Jones then grabbed a 12-inch kitchen knife from a drawer.
He threw a glass bowl on the landing floor and it smashed. Mr Ellis told the court Jones picked up a bottle of Fairy Liquid and emptied it in the front room.
The knife was then put back on a work surface.
Miss Elms ordered Jones to leave and she attempted to shut the front door.
But Mr Ellis said Jones began flicking blood from his right hand on to Miss Elms, constituting the assault charge.
Jones then left the property and Miss Elms contacted police.
Later in the day Jones rang Miss Elms and Mr Ellis said he made a threat about visiting the property again.
“I’ll come up there now and trash it again with my mates,” he was alleged to have said.
Euros Jones, defending, asked for the defendant’s sentence to run concurrently with what he is currently serving.
He said: “He was at an extreme low when he committed these offences – on a cocktail of various substances.”
