FOUZI’S in Llangollen has, for some time now, been a popular meeting place in which to grab a latte and a sandwich with friends.
More recently, however, this minimalist cafe-bar-cum-eatery near the famous bridge over the Dee, has branched out and is now offering a wide range of meals which are available well into the evening.
The staff at Fouzi’s have always been exceedingly friendly and welcoming and, as such the place has a very relaxed air.
The new menu is extensive to say the least, with a huge list of options from light bites to more substantial mains.
My girlfriend and I went along to try it out recently.
Pizzas have been on the menu here for a good while, so I decided to go for my favourite of the pizza staples – the so-called ‘American Hot’.
The lady opted for a newer addition to the menu, pork loin steaks with a mustard sauce.
We also ordered a crisp refreshing Italian lager and a small glass of white wine to accompany our meals.
The drinks arrived promptly and we chatted about the day’s events. There was a hum of conversation around us with a number of tables occupied by various parties.
Our meals arrived shortly afterwards, piping hot and looking very appetising.
The crisp pizza base was loaded with a generous helping of pepperoni and various other meats, mozzarella and tomato.
The pork steaks were ample and tender, drizzled with the rich sauce and accompanied by chipped potatoes and vegetables.
We took our time over the meals and enjoyed them immensely.
The portions had been quite generous so, after some consideration, we decided not to go for a dessert.
Fouzi’s is a warm and relaxed place to eat and the food is very good value for money
We left feeling very satisfied.
