ANGLESEY residents have been urged to attend an annual ceremony to honour the Island’s RAF personnel.
Council chairman Gwilym O Jones said that there would be a warm welcome to the public for the re-enactment ceremony of the Freedom of Anglesey for RAF Valley tomorrow (Saturday, October 7).
“Our authority greatly values RAF Valley's presence here on Anglesey, especially in terms of the sterling search and rescue work carried out by 22 Squadron and the camp's importance to the local economy,” he said.
The ceremony will include a parade through the town by RAF personnel and a fly-past.
Cllr Jones will be joined by RAF Valley Station Commander Group Captain Bruce Hedley and numerous other dignitaries and guests.
Cllr Jones added that it gave him great pleasure to host the event, which will be held at Anglesey Council’s headquarters in Llangefni.
“The re-enactment ceremony is always a very special occasion and there's a warm welcome for members of the public to come and enjoy the event," he said.
Those who wish to attend the event should assemble outside the council's main offices before 11.00am.
