A YOUNG Wrexham man remains in hospital in a critical condition more than a month after being injured in a horrific crash.
Danny Davies, 20, from Gwersyllt, suffered serious head injuries in the collision on August 30.
His mum, Karen Murphy, has spoken of the “brilliant” care he is receiving from staff at a specialist unit and also sent out a big “thank you” to the scores of people who have been sending him get-well messages.
Danny was injured when the blue Citroen car he was travelling to work in, with friend Ryan Partington, collided with a tree after it left the A550 near Penyffordd.
Both men were taken to Wrexham Maelor where Ryan was treated for multiple injuries.
Danny was later transferred to the Walton Centre in Liverpool, where he remains.
Yesterday his mother said: “He is still critical and we don’t know when he might come home.
“He has been awake for the past three weeks and can communicate with us but he can’t talk because he has a tracheotomy tube in his throat which is linking him to a ventilator.
“He is doing physio while he is in bed.
“I am still with him every day as I am staying in the nurses’ accommodation at the hospital.
“His dad, Rob Davies, and his sisters Emily and Cassie are coming to see him regularly.”
She added: “He is getting brilliant care at Walton – I couldn’t fault it.
“He couldn’t get better care anywhere, the nursing staff and the physios have all been brilliant.
“He is also getting loads of people sending him get-well messages. Some have sent cards and they have also been by word of mouth.
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has sent in their good wishes.
“I don’t know about his recovery. He has a very long road ahead and it will be very difficult for him.”
Karen has previously described Danny as a “fun lad” who likes cars and motorbikes.
