RELEGATED Llanidloes bid farewell to the first division with an end of season derby defeat at Alberbury.

To their credit the basement side made a fist of things at Pecknall Farm, with a half century from Simon Jones the stand out performance for the visitors.

Llanidloes lost opener Tony Lewis for a duck when run out by Mike Crawshaw, but surviving opener Geraint Evans was aided by the arrival of Jones.

Evans was caught and bowled for 16 by Ben Davies, with Jones enjoying a promising third wicket partnership with Joe Pritchard.

The duo upped the run rate before Pritchard was trapped LBW for 23 by Neil Savage, with the Alberbury skipper proceeding to wipe out the middle order.

Adrian Foulkes was caught by Andy Wynne off Savage for 14, who completed his figures of 4-34 with the wickets of Luke Pritchard and Mike Humphreys.

Jones made his half century before being tempted out of his crease by Steve Jarrett (2-33,) with keeper James Wynne toppling the bails.

Llanidloes were left to defend 151-8 against an Alberbury side, which has proven itself capable of runs this term.

Despite opener Mike Crawshaw being caught for six by Andy Evans off Joe Pritchard (1-34,) a top order collapse failed to materialise with Charlie Bourne joined at the crease by Mark Jones.

The pair combined superbly in a fruitful second wicket partnership before Bourne was snared LBW by James Denham (1-32) for 31.

Jones was joined by Andy Wynne with the duo pushing Alberbury to the brink of victory, with a fine third wicket stand.

Wynne offered vital support for Jones with a knock of 28 before being sent back to the pavilion for 28, when bowled by Adrian Foulkes (1-29.)

It was left to Dan Morris (7no) to join Jones (60no) to see Alberbury over the finish line with 152-3 with just four overs remaining
