AN arson attack has destroyed hundreds of pounds worth of equipment at an allotment.
The fireraisers struck on Sunday night at the Bodelwyddan allotment - the second fire on the site in two weeks.
Kevin Nesbitt, 54, whose shed was set on fire said: “The allotment is part of a community project, and all I want to do is grow vegetables. It’s absolutely ridiculous that things like this go on. I am quite upset.
“It’s starting put people off the whole project. It would be a shame for the village if it failed. It won’t put me off. I’ll still do all I can to make sure it succeeds and there’s a number of people in the village who feel the same way.”
The allotments, which are sited near Bodelwyddan Community Centre, opened after residents created an association. The site is now administered by Denbighshire Council.
Gardener Kate Kohling, 64, said the most recent fire was right next to her plot.
She said: “It’s very unsettling for everybody. Everyone’s wondering if it’s worth spending money or doing anything if someone’s just going to burn it down.”
A Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the fire was started deliberately.
