THE Hunt is on for a new chief executive for Bangor’s £30 million arts and innovations centre.
Robert O’Dowd has resigned from the position with the Pontio centre, which is due to open in 2013.
A Bangor University spokesman said that Mr O’Dowd had decided to “continue to develop his entrepreneurial and business skills in other areas.”
“His skills in bringing multi-stakeholder projects such as this to fruition demonstrate his excellent communication, business skills and acumen, all of which contributed to his work at Pontio,” she said.
The Pontio centre will include a 450 seat theatre, and will also look to develop scientific projects and business initiatives in the region.
The spokesperson added that prior to his appointment in October 2010, Mr O’Dowd successfully established and directed the £8.5million Designs of the Time, design and innovation public engagement programme in the north east of England and Cornwall.
“The University wishes to thank Robert O’Dowd for his commitment to Pontio which benefitted in no small measure from his leadership in its crucial stages of development,” she added.
