A PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition, showcasing some of Wales’ finest scenery was debuted at the Hope House fete in the centre of Llandrindod on Saturday afternoon.
The weather held off well for local photographer Andrew Jones, who was exhibiting his rural landscape prints and art photography.
Born in Hereford in 1959, Andrew has had a varied career including fire fighting and sound engineering.
Now the Llandrindod-based photographer is returning to his first love.
“I grew up with a keen interest in the wild and beautiful countryside that surrounded me,” said Andrew, who exhibits under his grandfather’s name George Andrew Photography.
“My career path led me to a childhood dream of being a firefighter, which I followed until my retirement in 1996.
"Following a brief dip into the realms of sound engineering I moved to the stunning area of Mid Wales and am now returned to my first artistic love, photography.
“If, through my images and interpretations, I can transport a viewer into the beauty and serenity that surrounds us, even for a moment, my time is not wasted,” he added.
Close friend and supporter Danni Croft described the exhibit as one of the highlights of the Hope House fundraising event, which took place at the bandstand in Llandrindod on Saturday, June 11.
“For visitors and locals this gives an insight into the heart of Wales and its myriad landscapes, flora and fauna,” Danni told the County Times.
One of Andrew’s daughters described how proud she was of her father’s exhibition, which also features images of the Gower in south Wales, Aberaeron and Herefordshire.
“He has always been artistic and has a good eye for a photo,” said Ceri Jones.
“This is something he enjoys and we’re all really proud of him.”
15 per cent of the proceeds from Saturday’s exhibition went towards Hope House.
A book of Andrew’s photography is due out in the autumn.
