Is there a better alternative to an Apple ipad?

Apple revolutionised the pc market for good with the launch of the first tablet pc, the iPad, but since then, all PC manufacturers have caught up, some offering models that are not only competing in price but also in function, applications and utility with the iPad. One of these products is the Samsung Galaxy tab.

The truth is that not everyone is an Apple fan, some customers avoid Apple by principal, some find its technology hard to adjust to, some find iPads too expensive for what they offer, and some even describe them ‘slippery’ and ‘uncomfortable to type on’. At the end of the day, there is no perfect tablet pc and each of them has something different to offer.

The recently circulated Samsung Galaxy tab, is rapidly becoming a hit with buyers and especially the young and young professionals. It is well designed, has all the latest applications and above all it costs one third of the price of an iPad. Don’t let it fool you that the aluminium around iPads is a much better or resistant material than plastic. Their life expectancies are the same.

Above all, the Samsung Galaxy tab is comfortable and its multi touch screen is simple and easy to use with only four touchscreen buttons. For a very low price it offers two high res cameras (1.3 MP and 3MP) that can also record 720p videos that never pixelate. In fact the Samsung Galaxy pad has greater pixel density than the iPad, making it perfect for Skype and Video calls. Part of its camera and video-camera attraction is the possibility of instant photo and video upload onto youtube, facebook and flickr.

Its winning feature however is its Android 2.2 operating system which, amongst its many functions, also offers fast browsing and emailing, multitasking, data exchange, e-book and Acrobat reader for downloading newspapers and magazines.

The Samsung Galaxy pad also features a SIM port, which can transform the device into a phone with an additional handsfree headset option. Another winning feature is its battery, which lasts four days straight without charge and that is with the WiFi on and working continuously. An ideal tablet pcs then for music festival lovers and travellers.

In terms of connectivity it uses Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi and it also supports DLNA which means that it can connect to a compatible TV set without cables, giving customers the opportunity to browse the net or view their files on a bigger screen.

In fact the only complain so far has been its 7 inch screen that some consider too small. For some others, the fact that it fits in a pocket is an advantage.

As we said earlier, there is no such thing as a perfect tablet pc but if you want one that does it all for one third of the price of an iPad then the Samsung Galaxy pad is your best bet.
