PENRHYN Bay residents flocked to their library last week to celebrate a momentous chapter in its history.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the library on Llandudno Road, a birthday party was organised by Penrhyn Bay Library Users Group (PLUG) on Thursday to showcase the range of essential services the library provides the community.
The event was intended to raise awareness of the library, which has been ear-marked for possible closure pending the results of an independent consultation.
Chairman of the group, Alison Mullineux, said: "It was excellent - we had a fantastic turnout. I would have said there was the best part of 100 people there.
"We also had a really good age range as well, with young children right the way down to older pensioners."
Deputy Mayor of Llandudno, Myra Wigzell, and Assembly Member Janet Finch-Saunders also attended to lend their support.
A petition to save Penrhyn Bay library is currently available at the library and in Penrhyn Bay Post Office.
