Just in time for the summer, there are lots of new digital cameras that have conveniently hit the market.
Manufactured by the top brands, Panasonic and Sony, the compact digital cameras all promise a range of high quality features that will help you take the best possible pictures yet still fit comfortably into your pocket, while the New Nikon D3100 + 18-55 VR is another quality DSLR from one of the most trusted names in photography.
The Panasonic DMC-TZ20 only came out at the end of March and is the successor to the popular and successful Panasonic DMC-TZ10. As you would expect it's packed full of features that promise – and deliver – fantastic photography.
Firstly the TZ20 is a 14.1 mega pixel camera with a powerful 16x optical zoom plus a 24mm wide-angle lens. There's also a three-inch touch screen LCD and 3D shooting mode. If you want to record video then the TZ20 has full HD and a nice feature is the dedicated button for video capture which means no more fiddling around with the control wheel to change modes before you start recording. The GPS feature means you can geotag your pictures. All in all the TZ20 is a top of the range compact that's set to be bestseller.
Less expensive but still a great compact is the 16.1 mega pixel Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T110. It has 4x IS optical zoom, a Carl Zeiss 25mm wide-angle lens and can capture HD video clips at 720P with stereo sound. The Sweep Panorama feature allows you to capture wonderful landscape photographs - simply press the shutter then pan the camera and it will automatically combine multiple shots to make extra-wide panoramic images. The face recognition feature will automatically distinguish between adults and children and can detect up to eight faces then adjust the flash, exposure, focus and white balance. The result is a great image no matter the conditions.
If you'd like to move on from compact digital cameras then Nikon's 14.2 mega pixel D3100 + 18-55 VR is a great entry-level DSLR. The 11-point Auto focus feature provides fast and precise focusing across the frame giving razor-sharp images. The EXPEED2 image processing engine gives enhanced movie recording and maximum quality images. You're in safe hands with its guide mode which offers in-camera assistance to help you get the perfect picture every time.
Whichever new release digital camera you choose, compact or SLR, those summer holiday photographs will never have looked so good.
