AN ANGLESEY chef will take on the best in the country as he returns to a national TV cook off.
Aled Williams, 28, of Beaumaris, will compete in Welsh Heat of BBC Two show The Great British Menu on Monday.
“The show is a fantastic experience and to have the opportunity to take part again is an absolute privilege,” he said.
“Once again I got the chance to meet great chefs and source good local food producers.”
Each chef hopes to win their regional heat and go on to battle it out for the chance to prepare a dish for the final, where they will try to get their dishes on the menu for a grand street party in London’s Leadenhall Market.
Aled won his regional heat last year, and will soon open a restaurant, café, delicatessen and butchers on Castle Street in Beaumaris.
The chef served a delicious rice pudding served with bay leaves and cherries to the Meals on Wheels group in Amlwch for one of the week’s challenges.
The service helps his grandparents, who recently moved into sheltered accommodation.
“I was glad of the opportunity to give something back to them,” he said.
“Plus Meals on Wheels is in-keeping with the theme of this year’s Great British Menu because it really does bring people together.”
Viewers can follow Aled’s progress on The Great British Menu from Monday to Friday at 6.30pm
