A COMMUNITY project has been awarded a £13,960 windfall.
The Count Me In Project, TAPE Community Music and Film based in Colwyn Bay has been given thousands of pounds by the North Wales Coast Community Fund.
Count Me In incorporates the use of music, drama, dance, film, photography, and visual aids for all ages, backgrounds and abilities to come together, and culminates in an arts festival celebrating the work with the wider community.
The project also benefitted from a £9,717 revenue funding from the RWE npower renewables Rhyl Flats Community Fund.
The cash comes from a partnership between RWE npower renewables and the Welsh Assembly Government, which provides up to £20,000 for small community-based projects.
The Welsh Assembly Government is also working with the North Wales Housing Association on a project called Your Bay Your Say, which gives communities of Old Colwyn and Colwyn Bay the chance to decide how they spend up to £6,000.
Speaking before the Assembly closed for the election period, Deputy Minister for Housing and Regeneration Jocelyn Davies said:
“This fund puts the local community at the heart of decision making. The community decides where the funding should go and which projects will benefit them the most. It’s great to see that the community has come up with some exciting projects and I wish those project every success as they try and deliver real benefits to people’s lives in the area.”
