POLICE in England are appealing for a woman to come forward, who spoke to missing Llandrindod man, James Bubear on the night he disappeared.

Footage has been released showing the 19-year-old student walking home from a fancy dress party with friends at a nightclub in Bath city centre, on Sunday night.

Cameras in the city centre filmed him walking alone past the Odeon cinema.

Just after 11pm, he is seen talking to a young woman at the junction of James Street West and Charles Street, opposite Green Park Station.

They were together for around five minutes, before the woman went away and James sat down in a nearby doorway.

His mobile phone and passport were found there by a street cleaner the next morning.

Friends and family are concerned because this is totally out of character for James.

Chief Inspector Simon Ellis with Avon and Somerset Police said: “It’s very important that the woman seen with James contacts us immediately.

"We believe she may have important information about how James was that night, what his immediate plans were and perhaps which way he was thinking of walking home.

“From the CCTV images it seems that they knew each other and spent about five minutes talking.

"At one stage they hugged before the young woman went on her way, and James sat down in that doorway for around 15 minutes.”

James is tall and slim, and had his face and eyes coloured by make-up by friends in the club on Sunday night.

Today a police underwater team continued a search along the River Avon in the city centre, while more police officers searched other routes and open spaces along the route James may have taken towards his student flat in Waterside Court on Lower Bristol Road.

Chief Inspector Ellis said finding James was their number one priority and appealed for anyone who saw him on Sunday night to contact them on 0845 4567000.

The news has been broadcast on the BBC across the south-west of England.
