ONE of the brightest stars of the Welsh construction industry, Bangor-based Watkin Jones Group, was honoured recently at the annual Built on Success Awards, hosted by ConstructionSkills.

The glittering event was attended by key figures in the Welsh construction industry, including special guest deputy minister for Skills John Griffiths AM.

The company received the leadership award in recognition of the work and skills of managing director Mark Watkin Jones, who since taking over the family business, has tripled the company's profit and positioned it as a Welsh construction company with a national presence.

Overall seven individuals and companies were recognised by ConstructionSkills for their major contribution to improving skills and productivity in an industry that has great economic importance for Wales.
