AN ANGLESEY boy had to be cut free by fire fighters after he was impaled by a metal bar on a fence in his back garden.

Christopher Jones, 14, of Maes Hyfryd, Beaumaris fell on the fence and a metal spike pierced his wrist in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Spokesman said that they were called to the scene at 2.29am.

Fire fighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to cut Christopher free from the fence.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire crew assisted the casualty in the ambulance and followed it to Ysbyty Gwynedd, but our assistance was no longer needed.”

Christopher was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor with the metal bar still in his wrist.

He was transferred to Alder Hey shortly before 6am on Monday.
