SWIMMERS were warned to enter the water after a sewage leak from a septic tank on Anglesey is investigated.

An Anglesey Council spokesman said that public toilets near Cemaes Bay beach have been closed until further notice as a precautionary measure.

He added: “The Seaside Award flag will be taken down until officers are satisfied that the water quality is within acceptable levels.”

Environment Agency Wales is leading the investigation a septic tank near the toilet block and any connections to this tank beach last Thursday.

EAW spokesperson Rachael Mullins said: “Anglesey Council have now emptied it, which has resulted in the pipe ceasing to discharge.”

The Isle of Anglesey Council is advising people not to enter the water at Cemaes Bay as a suspected sewerage leak is being investigated.
