LONELY, curious and sharp - the life of a young John Lennon is given the cinematic treatment in this month's Rialto Film Club screening of Nowhere Boy.

The directorial debut of Sam Taylor Wood, the film follows the boy who would start a musical revolution and the two incredible women who clash for his love.

Mimi (Kristin Scott-Thomas – Best Supporting Actress BAFTA nomination), the formidable aunt who raised him and Julia (Anne-Marie Duff – Best Supporting Actress BAFTA nomination) the spirited mother who gave him up.

Yearning for a normal family, John (Aaron Johnson) escapes into music.

His fledgling genius finds a kindred spirit in the young Paul McCartney. But just as John’s new life begins the truth about his past leads to a tragedy he would never escape. Poignant and powerful, the untold story of the boy who created The Beatles.

Nowhere Boy was nominated for Best British Film at the recent BAFTA Awards and Anne-Marie Duff collected the Best Supporting Actress award at the British Independent Film Awards for her performance as Julia.

Showcasing the story before the band, Nowhere Boy marks a must-see for Beatles fans.
