AN UP and coming psychedelic rock act continue a monthly Welsh language gig series in Bangor.
Alternative act Yr Ods play live at Bangor Railway Club for Ar y Rêls (On the Rails) on Saturday, March 9.
The lads, who hail from Bangor, Llanberis and Anglesey, were formed by Griff Lynch and Gruff Pritch while students at Aberystwyth University in 2006.
Having appeared at Glastonbury, Radio 1’s Big Weekend at the Faenol estate, Wakestock and Camden Crawl, the five piece have emerged as one of Wales’ most exciting young bands.
Yr Ods produce a winning mix of indie guitar, contemporary pop and 80 Welsh rock-influenced sounds, resulting in some truly memorable songs.
They compose and perform mostly in Welsh, but have carried on where Catatonia and Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci left off with some experimental bilingual work.
Popular tracks include Cau Dy Lygaid (Close Your Eyes), Troi a Throsi (Tossing and Turning), Cerdded (Walking), Turn Around and Paid Anghofio Paris (Don’t Forget Paris).
Ar y Rêls, presented by Pontio and Gŵyl Gardd Goll, offers shows from an exciting mix of emerging and established acts on the Welsh language music scene.
Evergreen actor and singer Bryn Fôn will bring his stylish brand of traditional songs, ballads and rockers to the venue on Saturday, April 6.
Show time is 8pm. Tickets are £10 and £8 (concessions), and are available from Palas Print Pendref.
