VENUE Cymru is certainly spreading festive cheer with its superb new pantomime Peter Pan.
Isobel Hathaway, who plays Tinkerbell alongside Blue Peter presenter Barney Harwood’s titular hero, is loving her stay in Llandudno.
She said: “It’s my first time here. I’ve never been this far north at all, but it’s lovely and I’m really impressed, particularly looking out at the view from the theatre, which is exceptional.”
The Oxford-born actress, who is in her fourth spell as the famous fairy, explained why she enjoyed the role.
She said: “The thing I enjoy the most is being a princess but getting to be a little naughty as well.
“She means no harm but she gets to act out her naughty side - it’s all very sweet and lighthearted once she becomes a good girl again.
I think that’s why children like her so much, because she’s a naughty little girl, but they know there’s nothing in it really.”
Isobel plays her role on roller skates, which poses its fair share of challenges, and entailed a lot of practice.
She said: “Four years down the line, I’m a bit of an old hand at it, though it never gets any easier really because roller skating in a straight line is one thing, but manoeuvring around a stage and a lot other people and scenery can be difficult!
“I’ve only fallen properly once, and that was embarrassing, so I try and avoid that all cost because having 1,500 people laugh at you, even though they don’t mean it, is not what you want!”
Also appearing in this top notch production are Jon Evans as Smee and Michael Howe as the dastardly Captain Hook.
Peter Pan plays until Monday, December 31. Tickets are £20, £18 and £15.
