MUSIC fans will have the chance to see one of the biggest names on the music scene at two forthcoming gigs in Rhyl.
X Factor 2010 winner Matt Cardle comes to Rhyl Pavilion on February 28-29. and he told Geraint Jones what he was looking forward to in terms of touring.
He said: “It’s just the travel, meeting people and even the different accents, things like that.”
The Essex-born performer has spread his musical wings since he won the talent contest, but is no hurry to shake off the tag of X Factor winner.
He said: “It’s the show that gave me my break. People have put it across that maybe I’m desperate to do that.
However, he added: “Eventually I would like to be known as just as Matt Cardle.”
Matt’s debut album Letters featured collaborations with Gary Barlow and Starsailor frontman James Walsh, and Cardle would one day like to work with Coldplay singer Chris Martin.
Matt said: “I know it’s a big ask, but he’s someone really interesting. It would be quite special.”
The singer also told how he found the collaborating, as opposed to solo songwriting.
He said: “It’s a bit like therapy to me. You’ll pour your heart out to this other person, and try to get on the same page about feelings.
“It’s not easy.”
Songwriting is in Matt’s blood, and he is currently working on new tracks at his home studio in London.
He said: It’s sounding really good. I’m not a producer by any stretch, but songwriting is going really well.
“I want to take the sound we have and push that further.”
Show time is 7.30pm.
Tickets are £25.
