SHAKESPEARE'S Antony and Cleopatra is coming to the big screen.

Broadcast live from the National Theatre to Theatre Clwyd in Mold, the Vue in Rhyl and Prestatyn's Scala, Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo will play the fated couple in the Bard's great tragedy of politics, passion and power.

Caesar and his assassins are dead and general Mark Antony now rules alongside his fellow defenders of Rome.

But at the fringes of a war-torn empire, Egyptian queen Cleopatra and Mark Antony have fallen fiercely in love.

In a tragic fight between devotion and duty, obsession becomes a catalyst for war.

Director Simon Godwin returns to National Theatre Live screens with this hotly-anticipated production, following previous broadcasts of Twelfth Night, Man and Superman and The Beaux’ Stratagem.

The play will be shown on Thursday, December 6 at 7pm, with an additional screening in Theatr Clwyd on Friday, December 21 at 4pm.

Tickets are priced £15 for the Scala, available online from merlinprestatyn.admit-one.eu; £15 for Theatre Clwyd, fromtheatrclwyd.co; and £19.54 for the Vue, available from myvue.com
