A DEE Valley festival continues this week in the company of an actor, host and broadcaster.

As well as all of these things, Craig Charles is also one of the UK's most beloved funk and soul DJs - and he is included on Llangollen Fringe Festival's programme later this week.

Charles will be taking his Funk and Soul club night to Llangollen Town Hall this Friday, July 27.

From Robot Wars to Red Dwarf, Craig has now grounded himself as a funk and soul icon after a decade of broadcasting on BBC 6 Music with a primetime Saturday night show.

Craig Charles has captivated crowds throughout the UK.

He has played at numerous festivals, such as Love Box, Park Life, Festival No 6, Wychwood Festival, Common People and Mostly Jazz funk and soul festival to name but a few.

His Llangollen Town Hall set will run between 7.30 and 10pm on Friday, with a live band playing afterwards.

This year sees the biggest bill ever accumulated by the Llangollen Fringe and it also includes Eliza Carthy and the Wayward Band, who will be performing at Llangollen Town Hall tomorrow evening (Thursday, July 26) at 7.30pm.

Tonight at the town hall, it's the turn of Mark Radcliffe's Galleon Blast to take centre stage (7.30pm).

The festival rounds off with its now legendary closing concert in the stunning surrounds of Valle Crucis Abbey this Sunday, July 29.

The spectacular Fringe Finale will this year feature the ethereal sound of Golden Fable and the NEW Sinfonia Orchestra.
