REVELLERS gathered in their thousands to enjoy a spectacular light show at a world heritage site.

The annual Underneath the Arches music and light spectacular took place once again on Friday night .

Despite the weather, families and visitors from far and wide enjoyed the fireworks and seeing Thomas Telford’s Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lit up in vibrant colours

Nestled under the towering 126ft pillars of the aqueduct , the Bont playing field was transformed once again into a picnic field for the evening entertainment.

Melissa Cross, of Buckley, who was at the event, which is organised by Destination Wrexham, and raised money for Nightingale House Hospice said: “ I thought it was fab.

“The rain was coming down but people were still singing and dancing, enjoying the atmosphere so it didn’t spoil the fun.

“The firework display was amazing and finished the night off perfectly.”
