GREAT British stand-up returns to Prestatyn later this week.

Comedy Central is bringing another evening of riotous laughs to the CookHouse Carvery, with opening act Josh Pugh and headliner Steve Royle splitting sides under the watchful eyes of Liverpudlian compère Ste Porter, comedian and resident MC at Liverpool’s Slug and Lettuce and The Slaughterhouse.

Rising star Pugh has been carving a formidable reputation for himself on the circuit since winning English Comedian of the Year in 2016, his keen observation humour and a ability to zone in on laughs in the most unexpected of places being very much his trademark.

A natural comic and immediately likeable, Pugh has taken his endearing awkwardness Down Under – to the Perth Comedy Festival and Adelaide Fringe – as well as to comedy Mecca that is the Edinburgh Fringe.

For over 12 years headliner Royle could be found in the guise of ‘Mad Edgar’ the court jester at the Camelot theme park where he presented over 2,000 “crazy juggling shows”.

Surely one of the few jugglers to successfully make the jump to radio, where he hosts a regular spot on BBC Radio Lancashire, Royle has supported both Peter Kay and Dave Spikey on tour.

In 2004 he was voted entertainer of the year at the inaugural Red Rose Awards, and won a bronze Gillard Award in 2007.

CookHouse Carvery’s comedy continues this Friday (July 27) at 9pm.

Tickets are £10, or £20 with a two-course pre-show meal at 7.30pm. They can be booked by going online at liverpoolcomedycentral. co.uk or by calling 0845 0132257
