A unlikely hero and his faithful sidekick will stomp from the swamp to Llandudno on a magical, musical Shrektacular this summer.

The acclaimed West End and Broadway adaptation of smash hit blockbuster Shrek is heading to Venue Cymru from Tuesday, August 21 for a whopping 12 nights of rip roaring fairytale fun for the whole family.

Based on the story and the characters from the Oscar winning DreamWorks Animation film this hilarious and spectacular production turns the world of fairytales upside down in an all-singing, all-dancing, must-see musical comedy.

Join unlikely - and fiercely reluctant - hero Shrek and his loyal steed of sorts Donkey as they embark on a quest to rescue the beautiful, if slightly temperamental, Princess Fiona from a fire-breathing, love-sick dragon.

Add the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits and a salty gingerbread man with links to the Muffin Man , and you’ve got the biggest, brightest musical comedy imaginable.

To realise the fantastical tale, Shrek The Musical brings over 100 much-loved fairytale characters, plus a 14-foot dragon, to life in an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza

No staging of the karaoke loving Shrek and his companions would be complete without the perfect soundtrack, featuring all new songs as well as cult Shrek anthem I’m a Believer.

Playing the ogre with a heart of gold is Steffan Harri, who played pint sized villain Lord Farquaad in the first ever UK tour of the musical, who is stepping into the far larger shoes of Shrek with experience in shows Les Misérables , Spamalot and Children of Eden.

Taking on the role of Princess Fiona is Amelia Lily, who first rose to fame on The X Factor, finishing third on the eighth series in 2011 and her debut single You Bring Me Joy reached number two in the UK Singles Chart.

Theatre credits include the Narrator in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Whatsername in the West End premier of Green Day’s hit punk rock musical American Idiot and Shout!

Most recently Amelia was the runner up in the 2017 edition of Celebrity Big Brother.

Completing the cast are Marcus Ayton as Shrek’s wisecracking sidekick Donkey and Samuel Holmes as pint-sized villain Lord Farquaad.
