Two talented groups of classical musicians are coming together at Rhyl Music Club.

The club have invited four exceptional pianists from the same family, along with a string quartet for an evening of Mozart concertos as part its North Wales International Concert Series.

Organising the collaboration is Murray McLachlan, who is head of keyboard at Chetham’s and a teacher at Royal Northern College of Music – both in Manchester – as well as a prolific solo performing and recording artist, music magazine writer one of the country’s leading music academics.

He will play one concerto, with his three children, Callum, Matthew and Rose, playing each of the others.

The three young McLachlans also perform widely in both the UK and abroad, despite Rose and Matthew still being students at Chetham's.

Joining the family will be the Saul String Quartet whose members are now studying in London at the Royal College and Royal Academy and last year collaborated with the prestigious London Russian Ballet School.

Rhyl Music Club Stephen Leeder said:“The McLachlan family have performed previously at the club and we were sufficiently impressed to insist that they return.

"We are promised a feast of music given by a group of young people who are brilliant advocates for today’s youth.”

The McLachlan family and Saul String Quartet will be at the Rhyl Town Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday, January 24.

Tickets are £12, and are available from the venue. Admission is for free for anyone under 16 who is accompanied by an adult.
