AS SURPRISE parties go; a round trip of 18,320 miles to get there takes some beating.
Phill Williams, part of the maintenance crew at Greenwood Forest Park, Y Felinheli, decided that his brother David's 50 birthday would not go unmarked.
This prompted him to travel to Perth, Western Australia to suprise his brother who had not seen for four years. The suprise had been sneakily arranged by David's sons Daniel and Bryn and when Phil walked into The Shed pub in Perth the birthday drink soon became a 50 to remember.
"It was very emotional for both of us' said Phill, who now lives in Colwyn Bay. "The shock factor was greatest for David; as my wife Tracy had emailed him whilst I was in the air to wish him the best for his birthday; so he didn't have a clue!"
Phill presented David with a wooden plaque made by colleague Nader Kohbodi depicting the Welsh Dragon and the Kangaroo as a background to an image of the brothers' hands and the wording ''Dau brodyr pob ochr i'r byd'', ''Two brothers at different ends of the world."
Phill added: ''I wanted something different that would commemorate the occasion and Nader hit the spot with the plaque''.
