A BETHEL nursing trainee has taken her first step towards a professional career after being named North West Wales NHS Trust nursing cadet of the year.

The award was presented to Einir Wyn Morris as part of a celebration of nursing cadets' achievements in the trust over the past year.

Einir, 20, who has already begun studying towards her Bachelor of Nursing degree at Bangor University, was selected by a panel of judges and assessed a number of categories, including motivation and application towards developing own knowledge and skills, quality of care and academic results.

Tania Marsden, director of human resources at the North West Wales NHS Trust, said: "This award is the first step towards a nursing career and all our cadets have worked hard and shown the right aptitude to progress in the profession.

"Einir Wyn Morris deserves special congratulations as cadet of the year and we wish her every success in the future."

The nursing cadet scheme is the first of its kind within Wales, aimed at Welsh-speaking young people who have shown an aptitude for care and are looking for practical experience of the nursing profession before studying at degree level.
