NEW YFC premises have been unveiled in North Wales.

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Rural Affairs Lesley Griffiths AM recently opened the new Eryri YFC office based in the NFU Cymru office in Caernarfon.

Previously based at Glynllifon, Eryri YFC accepted an offer from the NFU Cymru Mid Gwynedd trustees to take up the space in the second-floor of the NFU Cymru Caernarfon office.

At the official opening last month, Lesley Griffiths said: “I am pleased to formally open the new county offices of Eryri Young Farmers’ Clubs.

“YFC is a key organisation undertaking invaluable work nurturing the skills and talents of young people across rural Wales.

“I have met many young farmers over the last year and I am always impressed by their passion, the positivity and the recognition of the need for change within the industry.”

YFC county chair for Eryri Merfyn Glyn Owen said: “It was an offer we couldn’t refuse and we are so grateful to NFU Cymru for welcoming us to our new office and for all their support.

“The new office will enable us to support our 400-plus members, giving them opportunities to gain skills in agricultural and non-agricultural events through competitions, various activities and socialising.”

Glyn Owen, Eryri YFC county president, added: “I’d like to thank the cabinet secretary for coming here and officially opening the office for us.

“We are looking forward to settling into our new home.”

NFU Cymru Mid Gwynedd trustee John Owen said: “As a farmer from Rowen and a former member of a local YFC club, I am thrilled that we have been able to help Eryri YFC with their new home.

“Enabling them to use the office is our pleasure and we hope they settle in well.

“Young farmers are the future of our industry and NFU Cymru is passionate about supporting the next generation of farmers in any way we can.

“The YFC organisation supports young farmers and allows them to develop future skills to ensure they have a good foundation to build on when it comes to farming and working in the agricultural industry.

“NFU Cymru is pleased to be able to support the next generation of farmers and allow them to prosper.”
