Rhian Mostyn, of Llanfairfechan, joined the Chronicle in the early nineties and is now hoping to sell CDs instead of advertising space.
"I am very busy gigging and we are getting fantastic feed back," says Rhian, whose new CD is called 'Syrcas'
.
"We did a gig two weeks ago in Bethesda Rygbi Club supporting Bryn Fôn and won their respect. Our gigs go down well live and so this urges me to go further.
Last year proved very successful for Rhian, who arranged a gig with her husband at their farm called Llanffest, raising £3000 for the International Sheepdog trials 2008 which will be held in Abergele.
Rhian also arranged and played in 'Gob' in Bangor Railway Club raising money for Ty Gobaith.
"This year is very busy and I'm looking forward to playing at Sesiwn Fawr in Dolgellau," she adds.
"I will be organising Llanffest yet again, hoping to raise money for Ty Gobaith and two local charities in Llanfairfechan."
'Syrcas' is the fourth release by the popular singer/songwriter and the album features twelve tracks of rock, downtempo and dance, performed in the quirky style that Rhian has become best known for over the last several years.
'Syrcas' is a re-mixed and re-mastered version of her 2007 release 'Hawl', with most of the tracks featuring different instrument, drum and percussion takes.
Songs such as 'Cwsg', with its swamp blues style are typical of Rhian's lyrics working perfectly with the excellent slide guitar licks from guitarist, Arwel Owen. 'Circus Atari', was written especially for the album by Duncan Black, former Skinflick guitarist and recording artist in his own right, with the instrumental version featuring on his debut album. Rhian had always wanted to add vocals to 'Circus Atari', so it was a natural addition to her album.
You can catch Rhian at Yr Heliwr Nefyn Nefyn on Saturday, May 24; and Clwb Rygbi Bethesda on Saturday, July 19.
